Board Chair
Simon Saunders
Simon along with wife Annabel own Stag Valley, an 11,000 su Sheep and Beef property in Northern Southland. Being breeders and finishers of Lumina lamb, Stag Valley has also been managing the Elite breeding flock for Headwaters since its inception in 2007. Simon has held a number of governance roles including former Chair of the New Zealand Farm Environment Awards Trust. Appointed in 2020, Simon is currently Chair of the advisory board for Redvespa Consultants.

Board Member
Richard Green
Richard is involved in governance and management roles in several businesses, including retirement villages, dairy farming, beekeeping and honey marketing. He also serves as an independent director on seven large-scale farming businesses across arable, dairy, deer, and sheep and beef. Richard’s previous roles include general manager of international for PGW Seeds as well as sales and marketing director for AGRICOM. Prior to his 11 years in the seed industry, he spent eight years as an agricultural consultant working predominately in Otago.

Boyd Macdonald
General Manager of Lone Star Farms – a privately owned company farming six properties running 100,000 stock units. Boyd has a very strong background in pastoral farming and large scale animal breeding programmes. Appointed July 2011.

Guy Blundell
Managing Director of Compass Agribusiness Management which is an Agricultural Advisory and Agri- lnvestment business. He holds a number of positions on either formal or Agri Advisory Boards and is a member of the NZ Institute of Directors and previously Chairman of the Institute for Primary Industry Management. Appointed July 2011.

Associate Board Member
Dan Harper
Dan is really thrilled to be given the opportunity as an Associate Director of Headwaters. He is extremely passionate about Headwaters, and excited about its future opportunities.
Originally born and bred in Hawkes Bay, on his family’s Sheep and Beef farm, Dan made the move south in 2010 to take over the Reins of Quartz Hill Station in the Rakia Gorge, with his wife Georgie.
The Quartz Hill Station Business now encompasses 30,000 su across 3 properties, including Headwater ewes producing Lumina Lambs, Angus cows, Deer, Cropping, Tourism, and a Dairy farm.
Dan and Georgie have 4 young Children, and play an active role in the Windwhistle community.
